TPS Terminated for Honduras and Nicaragua

|

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the termination of the designation of Honduras for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). The termination is set to be effective on Sept. 8, 2025. Consequently, on Sept. 8, 2025, individuals who have been granted TPS under the Honduras designation will no longer have TPS or the benefits associated with it as of that date. Honduran TPS beneficiaries continue to have employment authorization during the 60-day transition period. Accordingly, DHS automatically extends the validity of certain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) previously issued under this designation through Sept. 8, 2025.

Additionally, DHS announced the termination of the designation of Nicaragua for TPS also set to be effective on Sept. 8, 2025. Consequently, on Sept. 8, 2025, individuals who have been granted TPS under the Nicaragua designation will no longer have TPS or the benefits associated with it. Nicaraguan TPS beneficiaries continue to have employment authorization during the 60-day transition period. Accordingly, DHS automatically extends the validity of certain EADs previously issued under this designation through Sept. 8, 2025.
