President Biden on Wednesday, Feb. 24 lifted the Trump-era restrictions on the granting of immigrant visas for family members other than the spouses and children of U.S. citizens. This proclamation allows for the granting of immigrant visas for all family members with an approved petition and current priority date, as well as winners of this year’s Diversity Visa lottery. Note that Presidential Proclamation 10052 remains in place, so the entry of nonimmigrant workers is still suspended.
The Department of State issued guidance for immigrant visa applicants to resume processing of their visas. This has been a particular sore spot for our firm as we have a few clients that are stuck away from their families. This was honestly for no good reason at all.
